My Journey Into Fatherhood Part 3

I was at work on November 10, 2008 when I get a phone call about 5am. My wife called and said "It's a beautiful day, we are going to have a baby! My water broke!" So I told my coworker, and he said get out of here!

I raced home, we got things packed and off to the hospital we went once again. I had goosebumps, knowing that sooner than later my second daughter would be here. After spending the whole day at the hospital, the time had arrived. My daughter was born all 10lbs and 2oz of her. Oh my she was big, but I was so happy, my new little girl was here!

Once I got to hold her I was in heaven, and who knew heaven came 3 times for someone.

My Journey Into Fatherhood Part 2

The day was August 29, 2005 and I was just as excited about this pregnancy. It was a dream of mine to have a son, and the day had finally come. On the day that hurricane Katrina made landfall in New Orleans, Louisiana, he was born at 9lbs 6oz and 21 inches. Yeah he was big, but he was so cute. I was on cloud 9 when I saw the first picture of him, he had on a baseball onesie and a baseball in his hand. If you know me, being a baseball fan, he will play one day.

I gotta say he was a breast feeder from day one, he was hungry all the time as he is now at almost 5. Wow how the time has flown by. One day he will be in the majors saying this hit is for my dad, I have a tear in my eye just thinking about it.

I was so grateful for having my friends and family there for that moment, you know who you are thank you.

My Journey Into Fatherhood Part 1

The date was October 9, 2003 and I was so excited that I almost left the house without pants. On the way to the hospital all I could think of was, I’m gonna be a father! The moment couldn’t get here any faster, the suspense was killing me. As I was driving I was thinking, I cant wait to hold my daughter for the first time, kiss her, look into her eyes. I really wasn’t looking forward to her first diaper change, but it would come sooner than later, and ya know that newborn poop really stinks especially breast milk diapers. One thing I remember fondly about the moment my baby girl came into this world, is the song on the radio was Forever and for Always by Shania Twain. That is my girl's song, forever and for always in my heart.

The real trooper was my wife, she went through a whole lot of pain even having to have to go with the oxygen mask, needless to say I was worried that this was not going to be good. She is a fighter all the way, and after all that she went through I was happy and proud to be her husband. I was so happy we had a family when my 7lb 3oz baby girl came. I cried for a week, but I look back and I wouldn’t change a thing. Stacey is in 1st grade now and is so smart, I’m the proudest dad ever!
